Emerick Woods, Chief Executive Officer

 Emerick is responsible for directing the company’s growth strategy and day-to-day operations. Previously, he served as president and CEO of Aligo, Inc, a company focused on the mobile space which was acquired in early 2007. Earlier he also served as president and CEO of Vicinity Corporation where he completed its initial public offering and successfully raised over $140 million before the company was acquired by Microsoft. He has held a variety of executive and general management positions at Coherity, CastBridge, TuneUp.com, HP, Quarterdeck and Symantec as well as consulting positions at McKinsey & Company and Booz Allen & Hamilton. Emerick holds an MBA from Harvard Business School and a B.Sc., Computer Science degree from Yale University.  

Roar Hagen, Ph.D., Chief Technical Officer and Co-Founder

Roar began R&D within speech processing and coding in 1989. He previously held positions at AT&T Bell Labs and Ericsson Research. He holds a doctorate in Electrical Engineering from Chalmers University of Technology, Sweden, and an M.Sc. in Physics from the Norwegian Institute of Technology, Norway. Roar Hagen has filed more than 10 patents.

Joyce Kim, Chief Marketing Officer

Ms Kim drives the company's strategic growth and market leadership. She is responsible for global corporate communications, investor relations, product management and product marketing. Ms. Kim joins from Symmetricom where she served as Vice President of Marketing. Previously Ms. Kim was the CMO of Aligo, where she led numerous global corporate communications programs and launched major products and brands into various international markets. Ms. Kim holds a B.S. in Architecture and a B.S. in Business Administration Finance from California Polytechnic University, San Luis Obispo.

William Scharninghausen, Chief Financial Officer

Bill brings nearly 30 years of financial executive experience. Most recently Bill worked as the CFO at Teachscape, Inc., a professional development services company for the education market. In addition he has held executive position at Vialta, Inc., Diva Systems, Corp., and Starsight Telecast, Inc. He received his CPA in 1980 and also holds a bachelor’s degree in Business and Finance from the California Polytechnic State University, CA.

Edward M. Abbati, Vice President Operations

Edward has been with Global IP Solutions for over 6 years. Prior to his appointment as EVP of Sales and Operations, Edward was the Company's Chief Financial Officer. Before joining Global IP Solutions, he was the VP of Finance at Intarka.com, a B2B information service company. At Autodesk Ventures and Micro-Focus, both international software companies, Edward was the Corporate Controller. Edward earned a B.B.A from Western Michigan University and an M.B.A. from the University of San Francisco.

Jan Linden, Ph.D., Vice President Engineering

Jan has been conducting research and development in speech processing and communications for the last 15 years. Prior to joining Global IP Solutions he was with the University of California, Santa Barbara and SignalCom, Inc. He holds a Ph.D. and an M.Sc. in Electrical Engineering from Chalmers University of Technology and has filed several patents.

Steve Rust, Vice President, Business Development 

Steve is responsible for alliances and mergers/acquisitions, along with participating in the development of company strategy. Most recently, he was the vice president of Business Development for 3Com corporation, a large supplier of networking equipment, software, and related services. He began his six year employment at 3Com as a Principal for 3Com Ventures. Steve graduated Cum Laude with a degree in Finance from Santa Clara University, and has an MBA from the Wharton School. 

Alan Waldrip, Vice President of Worldwide Sales

In addition to design Engineering experience, Alan has over 20 years of sales experience in the computational, telecommunications and semiconductor industries. Prior to joining Global IP Solutions, Alan held senior sales positions at Samsung, G-Link and Cypress Semiconductor. Alan holds a B.S.E.E. from the University of Massachusetts
